Marie-Luce Goulet, the “Goulet et Filles” farm’s owner, is surprised when one of her employees comes to her in a panic. He says there's a talking sheep among the sheep. Marie-Luce laughs, because it's a good joke. The employee tells her no and refuses to work. An angry Marie-Luce goes to see the sheep. She's going to prove to him that his talking sheep doesn't exist.
In the pastures, the sheep behave as usual, then she sees a sheep stand up on its hind legs. Before Marie-Luce can say anything, the sheep waves its hand in greeting.
"Hello?"
"Hi! I'm Wooly. I didn't scare you, did I? A man ran away earlier."
"No, but..."
Her thoughts get jumbled. A sheep cannot speak. Yet this sheep talks. It's not someone wearing a disguise, because the head shape, the wool, it's all real.
"Have you seen Amanda?" Wooly asks.
"Amanda?"
"My friend. She's got to be here somewhere."
Then Wooly starts to panic. He jumps over the fence delimiting the green space for the sheep and runs away from the farm. Marie-Luce decides not to follow him. A lot of work awaits her on the farm. Anyway, if anything bad happens to the little town of Valmont, she'll know soon enough.
